Sherbourne PS provides a comprehensive Victorian Curriculum. The Victorian Curriculum F–10 sets out what every student should learn during their first eleven years of schooling. The curriculum is the common set of knowledge and skills required by students for life-long learning, social development and active and informed citizenship.
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 sets out a single, coherent and comprehensive set of content descriptions and associated achievement standards to enable teachers to plan, monitor, assess and report on the learning achievement of every student.
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 includes capabilities, which are a set of discrete knowledge and skills that can and should be taught explicitly in and through the learning areas.
At Sherbourne Primary School we have a whole school approach to teaching and learning, using high impact teaching strategies across the school. Teachers also work in Junior, Middle and Upper school teaching teams to plan and deliver the curriculum, monitor and plan for student progress and tailor to maximise growth for all students. We have a collective responsibility for all of our students, and acknowledge all students are on a continuum of learning. It is most important is that we know where each child is in their learning to appropriately challenge and see optimum growth.
